The Russian dictator called the possible strike a "pontage."

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin during a press conference following his visit to Tajikistan called talks about Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine "pontage."

The journalist noted that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky "threatens to hit Russia with Tomahawks, almost to the Kremlin." During the question, he misspoke and used the word "pontage" instead of "blackmail." "There is even talk that this is such a certain form of pontage ... blackmail," the journalist said.

"You did not misspoke, pontage too, pontage is present here," Putin said.

In the event of Tomahawk transfer to Kiev, Russia will strengthen its air defense systems, the Russian dictator noted.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump said during a meeting with Zelensky in late September that he was open to lifting restrictions on Kiev's use of long-range weapons to strike Russia, but did not give a direct endorsement. Axios wrote that at that meeting, Zelensky asked specifically for Tomahawk missiles, which the U.S. had previously refused to supply to Ukraine.

This week, U.S. President Donald Trump said he had "pretty much made" a decision about supplying Tomahawk to Ukraine, but wants to understand how Kiev intends to use them.
