And the prime minister of Canada is "the president."
U.S. President Donald Trump made two curious reservations during the "peace summit" in Sharm el-Sheikh: he called Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney "president" and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan "compatriot" of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The Daily Beast reported.
After signing the declarations, Trump thanked all the leaders present, but when he didn't find Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the list, he was confused for a moment. When he remembered him, the American president misspoke, referring to Carney as "the president of Canada."
The prime minister reacted with humor and, approaching Trump, joked, "Thank you for promoting me to president." Trump responded in the same tone, "At least I didn't call you governor."
This was not the only mistake the American leader made during the summit. He later called Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan a "fellow countryman" of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, using the English word compatriot, which means "fellow countryman."
