Belarus' Foreign Ministry Is On Edge Over NATO's "Victory Theory"

The Alliance's defense plan has frightened Lukashenko's supporters.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement “in connection with the disclosure of NATO’s aggressive plans.” This refers to contingency plans in the event of an attack on the alliance—which also mention strikes against Belarus.

“The Republic of Belarus strongly condemns the statements by General Aleksus Grinkevičius, Commander of NATO’s Allied Forces in Europe, who presented the so-called ‘Theory of Victory.’

This concept provides for preemptive strikes on the territory of Belarus using drones and ground-based robotic systems.

The North Atlantic Alliance’s aggressive rhetoric is becoming increasingly systematic. Without any threats from Belarus and without any real grounds for conflict, NATO is making plans to build up its military presence near the borders and to launch strikes against the territory of a sovereign state.

“Under the guise of defensive rhetoric, the alliance is in fact laying the groundwork for military escalation and aggression,” the Foreign Ministry stated.

The ministry maintains that “Belarus has never threatened anyone,” and that Minsk consistently advocates for “openness, de-escalation, and an equal dialogue.”

As a reminder, on October 12 at a security conference in Warsaw, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus Grinkevich, presented a “theory of victory”. This is a plan in the event of an attack on one of NATO’s member states.

“We will repel the initial attack. If the attack continues, we will weaken its momentum and prevent the enemy from advancing. And if necessary, we will crush the enemy’s forces and destroy its operational combat systems deployed against us,” Grinkevich stated.

The Wall Street Journal published details of Grinkevich’s “theory of victory.” The plan involves, in particular, launching missile strikes against Russian command posts and air defense systems in the Kaliningrad region, near St. Petersburg, and in Belarus. This is expected to undermine Russia’s ability to control its airspace and allow the U.S. Army’s 5th Corps and other NATO ground forces to launch a counteroffensive.
