Airlines were forced to change their flight schedules.
On the night of October 17, Ukrainian defense forces carried out airstrikes on strategic targets in Moscow and the Moscow Region, resulting in the cancellation of flights at Moscow airports and the rerouting of planes headed for the Russian capital. This was reported by “Dialog” after monitoring social media.
The UAV threat in Moscow and the Mostovsky Region was announced late in the evening on October 16, and Moscow airports immediately suspended flights for safety reasons. Airlines were forced to reschedule their flights.
On the night of October 17, it became known that five flights from Antalya (Turkey) to Moscow were diverted due to restrictions at Vnukovo. It was not until approximately 6:50 a.m. Minsk time that Moscow’s airports lifted the flight restrictions. The press service of Vnukovo International Airport stated that permission to receive and dispatch aircraft “does not mean that flights will depart immediately.”

As a reminder, On September 1, 2026, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the closure of Russian airspace in response to intensified attacks by Russian occupiers on Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure. In his view, Russia must feel the escalation that the Russian army has initiated.
Earlier, an evacuation was carried out at Vnukovo International Airport.
