The singer isn't sure, but he likes to think so.
The wife of Paul McCartney Nancy Shevell is convinced that Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom had a soft spot for the former member of The Beatles. The 84-year-old musician himself shared this, according to People (translation by Charter97.org).
When asked which celebrity had made the strongest impression on him, McCartney named Elizabeth II without hesitation. He then recalled that as a child, when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned, she seemed like a real beauty to him and the other boys.
“She was a beauty. ‘The king has such a girl!’” McCartney shared.
The musician first met the monarch after he had already become world-famous. According to him, the meeting was special, in part thanks to Queen Elizabeth II’s sense of humor, which he greatly appreciated.
McCartney later recounted that his current wife, Nancy, once said, “She was in love with you.”
The singer admitted that it was impossible to confirm this, but he liked the idea.
Elizabeth II died in September 2022 at the age of 96. McCartney also dedicated the song “Her Majesty” to her.
