Russia's largest social network has experienced serious disruptions.
On the night of October 18, drones attacked the data center of the social network “VKontakte” in the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation. Users are reporting a major outage, and part of St. Petersburg was left without power.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Telegram monitoring channels.
Following the attack, users are flooding social media with complaints about serious disruptions to VKontakte and related services.

This is Russia’s largest social network, used by tens of millions of people.
At the same time, parts of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region were left without power.
Judging by footage circulating online, the strike may have hit the 330 kV “Vostochnaya” substation, located next to the data center.

That same night, drones launched a massive attack on Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Leningrad Region. An oil-loading port was likely targeted, and restrictions were imposed at Moscow airports and Pulkovo.
Data centers are becoming an increasingly common target. On the night of October 14, drones likely attacked Sberbank’s megadata center in the Saratov Region. And on October 11, drones disabled Yandex’s data center in the Vladimir Region, after which dozens of services in Russia stopped working.
