The Ukrainian Minister of Defense has officially confirmed this information.
Starlink and Starshield satellite communications in Ukraine are gradually being restored and are now operating at higher speeds than before. This was reported by "Channel 24" reported that Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara
According to the minister, on the morning of October 24, the Ministry of Defense’s monitoring systems recorded a restoration of the speed of Starlink and Starshield. Satellite communications are now stable and operating at speeds exceeding 400 kilometers per hour.
“This is yet another example of how direct dialogue and the Ukrainian president’s firm stance at the highest level yield results. And this result is, first and foremost, important for our front lines, for the military, for drone operations, logistics, and communications,” Khmara stated.
He added that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense continues to monitor the system’s performance.
As a reminder, on October 14, the Ukrainian military noticed that Starshield (a system based on Starlink technology) had begun operating with limitations: at speeds exceeding 161 kilometers per hour, the connection was lost. This disrupted a number of important operations and made it more difficult to shoot down “Shahed” drones.
Both the Donald Trump administration and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk denied any involvement in the restrictions, shifting the blame onto each other. On October 22, Trump stated that satellite communications in Ukraine were already functioning as before, but this information was not confirmed in Kyiv.
Meanwhile, U.S. lawmakers warned the White House that they would block Trump’s nominees until the administration ensured the restoration of satellite communications for the Ukrainian military.
