On October 26, a trailer for the Russian-Belarusian psychological thriller *The Barrel*, starring the well-known German actor Til Schweiger, appeared on YouTube, according to "Zerkalo".
The project was produced by the Russian film company “BigScreenProduction” and the Belarusian “Kinotsekh.”
In the story, a young prankster comes to his senses inside a locked barrel at an abandoned factory. Nearby is his father, chained to a post, with whom he has long since lost common ground.
“To escape, they’ll have to learn to trust each other before it’s too late,” the trailer description reads.
Although the thriller is set in the U.S., filming was limited to Minsk, according to "Kinopoisk".
"The Barrel" was directed by Alexey Zvontsov. The film stars Til Schweiger, Philipp Reinhardt, Nathan Paul-Collis, Ola Keiru, and Irina Kobzeva.
The Russian premiere is scheduled for December 17, 2026. Streaming platforms Apple TV and Amazon have already acquired the rights to the film, according to RBC.
