The former U.S. president called for using the next two years to bring about change.
Former U.S. President Barack Obama stated that the midterm election results were a “clear signal” from Americans that they want to see policies that unite people rather than divide them. According to him, voters expect leaders to provide concrete solutions to the problems facing the country.
“Although the current administration will continue its work for another two years, our task now is to roll up our sleeves, bring about change where we have the authority to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the foundation for the future,” he wrote on social media platform X.
Obama’s statement came after the Democrats’ victory in the House of Representatives and Senate elections, including in the traditionally Republican states of Texas and North Carolina. In Texas, Democrat James Talalico broke his party’s 38-year losing streak in state elections.
Echoing Obama’s words, Talarico also stated that voters had sent a “crystal-clear message”: “We will not be broken.”
