The cause is currently unknown.

On the evening of Wednesday, November 4, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria, Hubert Aiwanger, was found dead in a Berlin hotel. The cause of the politician’s death is still unknown.

This was reported by Deutsche Welle, Tagesspiegel, and Bild.

According to media reports, Hubert Aivanger was scheduled to deliver a speech on the morning of November 4 at the opening of his party’s office, “Free Voters,” but he canceled his appearance due to health reasons and subsequently ceased all communication.

It is known that the politician was staying in a room at the Neuer Fritz Hotel; therefore, after he went missing, his room was searched, and Aiwanger was ultimately found showing no signs of life. He died at the age of 55.

Following the incident, the police and the district attorney’s office launched an investigation to “determine the specific cause and circumstances of death and rule out the possibility of a violent death.”

Meanwhile, Berlin authorities believe the politician’s death was due to natural causes.

“The sudden death of Hubert Aiwanger is a true tragedy. We are all deeply shocked. Our thoughts are now first and foremost with his family and children,” wrote Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder on social media.
