Poland's Minister of Justice urged people to donate blood for one of the injured police officers.

Two police officers who were injured while apprehending the attacker in Krakow have undergone surgery and are in stable condition. The shooter himself, after undergoing several surgeries, is in stable but very critical condition.

This was reported by Reuters, which received the information from a spokesperson for the Lesser Poland Voivodeship Office.

Shortly after midnight on November 8, the provincial office reported that the injured police officers had undergone surgery and were in stable condition. Poland’s Minister of Justice called on the public to donate blood for one of the officers.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk called police officers Jakub Kulik and Artur Moranski true heroes. According to him, they likely saved many lives while risking their own.

Interior Minister Marcin Kerwinski emphasized that the police prevented a significantly higher number of casualties: law enforcement officers opened fire on the attacker just three minutes after the first report.

The 24-year-old shooter has undergone several surgeries. His condition is stable but very critical. Video footage from the scene shows him falling after an exchange of gunfire with police.

On November 7, around 3:00 p.m., the attacker drove into Kraków’s Main Market Square and opened fire on people. Six people were killed, and the police later released details about the attacker.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk responded to the tragedy. November 8 and 9 have been declared days of national mourning.
