U.S. analysts paid attention to the insider's statements.
The aggressor country Russia is not interested in meaningful peace talks. Instead, the Kremlin is preparing for a protracted war. This was reported by analysts at the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
A source close to the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia's negotiating position "has not changed at all" and the main disagreements in the talks "cannot be resolved."
"These insider statements indicate that the Kremlin plans to continue the war until at least September, but probably much longer," the analysts said.
Why the Kremlin needs negotiations
ISW notes that the Russians are using the talks as a tool to stall for time so that the Russian army can change the situation on the battlefield in its favor.
"Not only is the Kremlin not interested in meaningful negotiations to end the war, it is actively trying to sabotage ongoing efforts to allow Russia to continue fighting from a more advantageous position on the battlefield," the analysts added.
