It could attack NATO if there is a command from Beijing.
If Russia decides to attack NATO countries, it can do so only with the permission of China. Moscow does not make independent decisions of this nature.
This was announced by Admiral Rob Bauer, head of the NATO Military Committee (2021-2025) and member of the Kiev Forum Security Council, during the 18th annual CBF on Friday, April 24.
He noted the importance of analyzing Beijing-Moscow ties and drew attention to Russia's strategic dependence on China.
"Russia can attack if China asks. The decision to attack NATO cannot be made only in Moscow, it will be made in Beijing. Russia is a vassal of China," Bauer said.
In his opinion, in order to effectively prepare for possible threats, the Alliance needs not only to build up its military strength, but also to strengthen its industrial and financial capabilities.
Rob Bauer also called for maintaining unity and preventing a split between allies, particularly with the United States.
"We need to keep our heads cold and focus on what is happening in NATO and in Europe. We must not alienate the Americans and we must strengthen ourselves within the Alliance," Admiral Bauer summarized.
