UAE Head Announces Handing Over The Country's Governance To AI

For two years.

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) intend to shift up to 50% of government services and operations to autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) systems within two years. The initiative is being implemented on behalf of the country's President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and has become part of a large-scale reform of public administration. This is reported by Gulf News.

The plans were announced by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, emphasizing that it is about creating a new governance model based on so-called "agent-based" AI systems. According to him, such technologies are capable of independently performing tasks, managing processes and participating in decision-making without human intervention.

"Advanced AI systems are already capable of tracking changes, analyzing, making recommendations and executing sequences of actions without human intervention. AI will become the government's executive partner, helping to make decisions, improve services and operations, and evaluate results and make improvements in real time," he said in X (Twitter).

As part of the reform, the performance of ministers and agency heads will be measured by the speed of implementation of new standards and the use of AI in operations. All employees of federal authorities will undergo specialized training aimed at developing competencies in the field of artificial intelligence. The authorities expect the program to become one of the largest transformations of public administration in the world.

Besides others, Telegram head Pavel Durov was also noted in the comments under Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's post. He called the decision "amazing."

"The UAE is becoming invincible," he added.
