Pilots of the French Air and Space Forces are training the Ukrainian military to fly Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets. This was reported on April 25 in Facebook by the press service of the French Armed Forces Ministry.
The French Armed Forces noted that the training takes place within the framework of the European Union mission (EUMAM) to train the Ukrainian military, stressing that the cooperation of the French Armed Forces with Ukrainian partners is permanent.
"Together with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, new Ukrainian crews receive combat training on Mirage 2000-5F aircraft and maintenance training for these aircraft. This is a concrete contribution to the security of Europe's eastern flank," the report said.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine expressed gratitude to French partners for "consistent, comprehensive and unwavering support, which is a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's defense capability and security of the entire European continent."
"France is one of Ukraine's key European partners in the sphere of defense and security. In the field of personnel training, France plays a leading role in the European Union Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine). Training is conducted on the territory of France and in Poland. In terms of numbers: since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, France has trained almost 10 thousand Ukrainian military personnel as of March 2024 (of which 8.8 thousand in 2023). As of 2025, the total number of trained under EUMAM Ukraine under the guidance of the French Army reached almost 15 thousand people," the General Staff said.
The press service also noted that the training is organized in three areas:
tactical training and maintenance of delivered equipment (Caesar, Crotale NG, AMX 10-RC, MLRS, SAMPT);
specialized exercises (health care, logistics, mine clearance, reconnaissance);
forming tactical units (urban and trench fighting, company and battalion command).
