Putin Fears AFU Attack On Crimean Bridge

A separate company will be created to protect the bridge in the Russian Federation.

The Russian government will select a single transportation security operator to protect critical transportation infrastructure facilities, according to a draft law prepared by the Ministry of Transport. RBC has a copy of the document, its authenticity was confirmed by a source close to the Cabinet. On April 27, the draft law was to be considered by the government's commission on legislative activity.

The single operator will ensure transportation security at "critically important" facilities, the list of which will be determined by the Ministry of Transport, according to the explanatory note to the document. Russian Railways declined to comment.

The bill says it was developed in accordance with the instruction of the relevant Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev from May 5, 2025. It was given following a meeting of the interdepartmental working group to ensure the organization and coordination of measures to protect the transport crossing over the Kerch Strait (Crimean Bridge), the power grid bridge between Krasnodar Krai and Crimea and the main gas pipeline between these regions. The document should be submitted to the State Duma by September 2026, the text says.
