Washington Shooter Charged With Attempted Assassination Of Trump

The suspect pleaded not guilty.
The man who carried out the shooting at a White House Correspondents' Association dinner attended by US President Donald Trump has been charged with attempted assassination of the White House chief of staff. According to AP, the suspect was read the indictment in federal court in Washington, D.C., on April 27.
The man was also charged with transporting a firearm and ammunition and using a firearm during a violent crime.
The agency notes that the suspect has not pleaded guilty.
April 25, a shooting occurred at a White House Correspondents' Association event at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Trump, U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other senior administration officials were there. The attacker was apprehended and one U.S. Secret Service agent was injured.
New York Post wrote that the suspect was identified as 31-year-old teacher Cole Allen from California. Police believe he acted alone.
White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said the attacker was likely trying to assassinate Trump and kill as many senior officials in his administration as possible.
