New details of the strike on Nevinnomysskiy Azot
A night raid by Ukrainian drones in the Stavropol region has resulted in a fire at the Nevinnomyssky Azot plant, one of Russia's largest producers of mineral fertilizers and chemicals used to make explosives. This is reported by Ukrainian monitoring resources, publishing footage from eyewitnesses, which shows the glow of a fire, presumably in the area of the plant. The fire occurred "in the area of large-capacity ammonia production, where the shop with primary reforming furnaces is located," according to Supernova.
The fact that the fire occurred at Nevinnomysskiy Azot is also reported by Astra, which refers to reports from local residents and the results of analyzing photos and video from the scene. The publication notes that this is at least the sixth attack by the AFU on the enterprise since the beginning of the war. The previous strike took place on the night of December 4, 2025. The plant, owned by Russia's largest fertilizer producer Eurochem, produces ammonia, urea, melamine, ammonium nitrate, liquid nitrogen fertilizers, acetic acid and vinyl acetate.
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, Nevinnomyssky Azot is a "critical element" of the Russian military-industrial complex. The plant annually produces up to 1 million tons of ammonia and more than 1 million tons of ammonium nitrate, which are used in the manufacture of explosives and artillery shells. In turn, melamine, acetic acid, methanol and potassium nitrate are used to manufacture high-explosive ammunition and rocket charges. The company's products are supplied, among others, to the Sverdlov plant in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region.
The night attack on Stavropol Krai was confirmed by the region's governor, Vladimir Vladimirov. He claims that air defense assets "repelled a raid by enemy UAVs" near Nevinnomyssk. There were no casualties or damage, according to the governor.
The Russian Defense Ministry says that overnight air defense and REB forces intercepted 138 Ukrainian drones in 15 Russian regions, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas. However, Stavropol Region is not mentioned in the report.
