Trump Announces Three-day Truce In Russia's War With Ukraine

It provides for a cessation of hostilities and an exchange of prisoners.

US President Donald Trump has announced a three-day truce in the war between Russia and Ukraine. It will last on May 9, 10 and 11, he said.

Trump wrote about it on his Truth Social. "Russia celebrates Victory Day, but so does Ukraine because it also played an important role in World War II," he said.

This ceasefire would call for a cessation of all hostilities, as well as the exchange of 1,000 prisoners on each side.

Trump noted that such a ceasefire was proposed by him. The US president thanked Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for his support.

"I hope this is the beginning of the end of a very long, deadly and bitter war. Negotiations to end this great conflict, the largest since World War II, are ongoing and we are getting closer to a solution every day," Trump said.
