U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah to cease hostilities. According to him, the armed conflict could hinder the signing of a memorandum between the U.S. and Iran.
“There should be no new attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace—let’s not miss this chance,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The U.S. president noted that the U.S. and Iran are “very close” to a deal that will “bring peace,” including to Lebanon.
Today, the Israel Defense Forces reported a strike on the command center of the Lebanese group Hezbollah in Beirut. Al-Hadath reported one fatality and four injuries. According to Donald Trump’s projections, the U.S. and Iran could sign an agreement as early as June 14. The Iranian Foreign Ministry ruled out a signing on Sunday but acknowledged that the parties could do so in the coming days.
