Lithuanian border guards are once again heading out to assist their Latvian colleagues in strengthening border security. Starting July 1, the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service is sending a new mission to Latvia, consisting of nine officers, including two dog handlers with service dogs.
According to the agency, Latvia continues to face significant migration pressure from Belarus. Moreover, this year, secondary migration from Latvia has increased more than fourfold.
For two weeks, Lithuanian specialists will be deployed to the most challenging sections of the border. Their duties will include monitoring the border zone, preventing attempts to cross the border illegally, and carrying out other operational tasks.
