The Office of the President of Ukraine described the difficult situation facing the Belarusian dictator.

Lukashenko found himself “caught between a rock and a hard place” between Putin’s demands and the consequences of deeper involvement in the war. This was stated by the deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Kislitsa.

A journalist from "RBC-Ukraine" asked Kislitsa whether Kyiv had had any recent contacts with Belarus, since both Lukashenko himself and Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov had spoken about this, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy had mentioned a message conveyed through ‘friends of the Kremlin.’

“Belarus is in a difficult situation. And we have ways to send signals. You can see that there was a very strong signal regarding the relay stations. Then there were two days of talks between Lukashenko and Putin. As I understand it, if not all, then most of the relay stations have been deactivated. For Lukashenko, this is all like a death sentence. He finds himself caught between a rock and a hard place: on the one hand, it’s harder for him to resist Putin’s demands, and on the other—he clearly understands the far-reaching consequences of greater involvement in the aggression against Ukraine,” Kislitsa said.

The deputy head of the Ukrainian President’s Office noted that this is a difficult situation for Lukashenko himself.

“This is a very difficult situation for the Belarusian dictator. And even more so for the Belarusian people, who, unfortunately, have become hostages to three decades of undemocratic development in Belarus,” added the Deputy Head of the Office of the President.

As a reminder, on June 19, Zelenskyy gave the Belarusian authorities one week to remove the relay stations used to adjust the flight paths of Russian drones—otherwise, he threatened, “we will do it ourselves.”

As early as June 24, the Ukrainian president, citing data from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and intelligence sources, stated that the relay stations on Belarusian territory were no longer operational.
