It Has Been Revealed What Position Zelenskyy Might Offer Fedorov

The Office of the President of Ukraine is considering the possibility of offering former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov the position of coordinator for military technology development, the so-called “miltech czar.” This was reported on the evening of July 19 by "Zerkalo Nedeli. According to media reports, Ukraine’s partners expect Fedorov to accept the new position.

The publication explained that in the U.S. and other Western countries, “czar” is not usually an official title—it is a term used to describe a high-ranking official who is granted broad authority to coordinate a specific area. In this case, it likely refers to coordinating the development of military technology, weapons production, unmanned systems, and cooperation between the government, the military, and the defense industry.

Also, according to the publication’s sources, discussions are ongoing regarding a possible replacement for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. They did not name a likely successor. The Financial Times also reported that the Presidential Office is discussing a possible replacement for Syrsky. According to media reports, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is prepared to replace Syrsky if a commander can be found who will ensure a smooth transfer of authority while also being able to hold the line “along the 1,200-kilometer front”.
