The Ukrainian Armed Forces Killed A Corrupt Russian Lawmaker

He went to the front from the penal colony.

Andrey Merzlyakov , a former Duma deputy from Russia’s Krasnoufimsky District , who was convicted of accepting bribes, was killed in the war in Ukraine. He left for the front lines from a penal colony.

“According to an insider, Merzlyakov left the prison to join the ‘Storm V’ assault unit in the war. The former deputy was killed in action,” writes EAN.

The city administration has already confirmed the information.

Andrey Merzlyakov was 46 years old; from 2012 to 2022, he headed the company “Energoservice,” which is controlled by the Krasnoufimsky District administration. In 2015, he was elected to the district council as an independent candidate. It was revealed at the time that he had been convicted of theft in his youth—but this did not prevent his election.

In 2017, a new case was opened against Merzlyakov: it turned out that he had installed a camera in the “Energoservice” restroom to spy on female employees. The deputy avoided trial due to his remorse, but he was not re-elected to the new Duma session. And in 2024, he was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison for accepting bribes from suppliers: cash payments and a trip to Turkey.

Earlier, the website Charter97.org reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had eliminated a well-known Z-propagandist.
