Lithuania Has Prevented More Than 25,000 Migrants From Entering From Belarus

The border is under constant attack.
On July 19, the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service (SBGS) recorded 28 attempts to cross the border from Belarus. This is a record for the past 55 days, according to the publication "Pozir".
The previous high was on May 25—38 attempts—while the number in the subsequent period ranged from 0 to 20.
Since the beginning of July, Lithuania has recorded 88 attempts to illegally enter its territory from Belarus—2.9 times more than during the 19 days of June (30 attempts) and 46.7% more than during the entire month of July last year (60).
The State Border Guard Service has been recording illegal attempts to cross the border from Belarus daily since March 25. During this period (117 days), there have been 8,165 such attempts. The previous day, July 19, saw the lowest activity—two attempts. Prior to that, the lowest figure was six attempts on May 10.
The Lithuanian side has also published statistics on the number of border violators from Belarus who were denied entry into the EU. Thus, from January 1 of this year, border guards prevented 957 people from entering; in 2025, 1,652; in 2024, 1,002; and in 2023, 2,643. The largest number of foreigners attempted to cross the Belarusian-Lithuanian border in 2022. At that time, Lithuanian border guards denied entry to the European Union to 11,211 people.
At the same time, as noted by the State Border Guard Service, from August 3, 2021—when authorities authorized its officers to turn back border violators coming from Belarus—through December 31 of that year, Lithuania denied entry to the EU to an additional 8,106 people.
In total, over the course of just under five years, Lithuania has denied entry to 25,571 foreign nationals from Belarus.
