Z-blogger Remeslo Has Been Sent Back To The Mental Hospital

He is accused of spreading "fake news" about the army.

Ilya Remeslo, who was arrested in connection with the case involving the dissemination of “fake news” and who was being held in a pretrial detention center, Z-blogger Ilya Remeslo, has been sent to the Serbsky Psychiatric Institute, a source “close to medical circles” told TASS. The blogger’s attorney Sergei Badamshin confirmed the information, but he did not disclose the reason for the transfer. On Sunday, July 26, the lawyer also posted a photo on his Telegram channel showing him standing at the entrance to the institute. Badamshin noted that he “had to drive over” because the person who delivered the package to Remeslo had his passport confiscated and it was not returned for 1.5 hours.

In mid-July, the Z-blogger’s home was searched and he was detained on charges of spreading “fake news” about the army (Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to RBC’s informed sources, the reason for the action was his posts on a Telegram channel. On July 17, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow remanded Remeslo to pretrial detention. As Badamshin reported, a hearing on appeals against the court’s decision to arrest the blogger was scheduled for July 24. In March, Remeslo posted a series of messages on his Telegram channel in which he sharply criticized Vladimir Putin and demanded that Putin resign and be convicted as a “war criminal and thief.” A few days later, the blogger was sent to a psychiatric hospital, from which he was released 30 days later, writes The Moscow Times.

In late April, Remeslo gave an interview to Ksenia Sobchak, in which he once again criticized Putin. He called Putin “the main cause of all the problems in our country,” emphasizing that “everyone” knows this, including “military correspondents” and opinion leaders. However, according to him, “practically everyone” is afraid to say that under Putin, “our country is sinking to an unimaginable low.” At the same time, Remeslo called for a fight against “Putinism as a phenomenon, rather than against Vladimir Putin alone,” and predicted a “quiet palace coup,” which, in his opinion, could be led by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
