Reuters: UAE Boosts Oil Production To Record Levels After Leaving OPEC
- 6.07.2026, 23:19
Oil prices will continue to fall.
The UAE's oil production exceeded 3.8 million barrels per day in June, according to Reuters citing sources. Thus, the country has achieved its goal following its exit from OPEC—the absence of production limits has helped it reach record levels.
According to Reuters, in June of this year, the UAE came close to matching the levels seen in April 2020. Oil producers in the Emirates also surpassed the figures achieved in the last month before the Strait of Hormuz was blocked due to the escalation in Iran. In February 2026, the UAE produced 3.64 million barrels per day.
The UAE withdrew from OPEC in early May. According to the country’s Energy Minister, Suhail al-Mazroui, the decision was made due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which restricted export flows from the Persian Gulf. In addition, the country considered OPEC’s oil production quotas to be excessive.
