World Cup: Switzerland Defeats Colombia

The match was decided by a penalty shootout.

The Swiss national team defeated Colombia in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Both teams started the game cautiously and created very few scoring chances in the first half. The goalkeepers—Gregor Kobel and Camilo Vargas—handled the few threats with confidence.

Early in the second half, Switzerland had an excellent opportunity to open the scoring: Sou and Rieder orchestrated a promising attack, but the ball went wide of the post.
