"Tsushima In The Sea Of Azov"

Experts discussed Ukraine's spectacular defeat of Russia's "shadow fleet."

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ unmanned systems unit destroyed 10 Russian fuel tankers in the Sea of Azov. This event made a lasting impression on military experts. “Dialog” examined the details.

On the afternoon of July 7, SBS Commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi published spectacular footage of the destruction of eight tankers from Russia’s “shadow fleet” that were attempting to break through into occupied Crimea. A Russian dry cargo ship and a ferry were also hit.

A couple of hours later, an officer reported that two more Russian ships had been hit in the area.

“We just ‘took out’ two more tankers in the Sea of Azov. That’s tankers number 9 and 10 for the current 24-hour period—12 vessels in total,” the commander wrote.

He promised to publish details and reports later.

Israeli journalist Sergey Outslander compared this event to the Battle of Tsushima — the Japanese navy’s defeat of the Russian Empire’s 2nd Pacific Squadron, which decided the outcome of the Russo-Japanese War.

“While everyone watched the events in Omsk with some astonishment—the city had been attacked for the first time since the Kolchak era—another Tsushima unfolded in the Sea of Azov. Ukrainian drones set fire to eight tankers, a dry cargo ship, and a ferry. That’s 10 ships lost, and not a single Ukrainian soldier was within hundreds of kilometers of the area. Meanwhile, things are looking grim in Omsk. The plant has been severely damaged, and the consequences for Russian gasoline production could be quite catastrophic,” the journalist wrote on Telegram.

Journalist Ivan Yakovina was also deeply impressed.

“This is like something out of World War II—practically the destruction of a Nazi naval convoy by the British Air Force. Great job!” he wrote on Telegram.

Journalist Michael Naki noted that Ukraine has completely closed off the Sea of Azov to Russians.

“Madyar posted the results of the operation against the ‘shadow fleet.’ This isn’t like the Europeans detaining a tanker once a month. The SBS struck eight tankers at once, as well as a dry cargo ship and a ferry. This entire armada, by all accounts, was struck by the SBS. The Sea of Azov is closed to Russians,” he noted on Telegram.

Meanwhile, Z-channels are bracing for new strikes from Ukraine.

“The way these tankers are organized is typical—a defenseless, dense cluster of ships in the middle of the sea, serving as a shooting range for Ukrainian FP-2 drone operators. There is neither cover from Black Sea Fleet ships—which have long been barely able to defend themselves—nor fire support teams on the ships themselves. Whereas previously we were attacked by columns of tanks under drone fire, now, apparently, we’ll be sailing in a wake formation under drone fire,” wrote the propaganda channel “Military Informant.”
