Miroslav Lozovsky Was Posthumously Awarded The Title Of Honorary Citizen Of Rivne

A Belarusian volunteer died heroically while defending Ukraine.
On August 13, members of the Rivne City Council voted to posthumously award the title of “Honorary Citizen of Rivne” to 201 defenders of Ukraine, including the Belarusian volunteer Miroslav Lozovsky, according to "Radio Svaboda".
His name is listed in the official register of the city’s honorary citizens under number 665.
The wording of the decision states: “Miroslav Vladimirovich Lozovsky—a citizen of Ukraine who was killed (died) while defending the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine during the Russian-Ukrainian war; he took direct part in carrying out measures to ensure national security and defense, and to repel and deter armed aggression against Ukraine.”
It is worth recalling that as early as 2024, the city of Rivne decided to name one of its streets after Miroslav Lozovsky.
Lozovsky’s biography is closely linked to the Belarusian opposition movement: as early as the 1990s, he was one of the founders of the “White Legion” organization. In 2017, he and more than thirty others were detained in connection with the so-called “Patriots Case,” but the criminal proceedings were subsequently dropped. In 2020, Lozovsky moved to Ukraine and joined the Belarusian volunteers fighting in the Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment under the call sign “Mysh.”
He was killed in May 2023 during the battles for Bakhmut. At that time Lozovsky was leading the evacuation of a group of fighters from the “Volat” battalion who had come under fire from Russian artillery while inside a building. Four soldiers were killed in the attack, but several people, including the former leader of the “Young Front” Denis Urbanovich, were rescued.
Lozovsky himself covered his comrades’ retreat and was the last to leave the building—he was literally just a few dozen meters short of reaching cover. His body was recovered from the battlefield and later buried in Kyiv, while the remains of the four fallen fighters left behind in the destroyed building were never recovered.
