Drones Attack Moscow And Yaroslavl

Early in the morning on August 28, drones attacked the Moscow and Yaroslavl regions in Russia. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reports a drone attack on the Russian capital, according to "Focus".

“Drones are attempting to attack Moscow : Russian air defenses have reportedly already managed to shoot down at least two drones on the outskirts of the city. As a result, ‘debris fell,’ and emergency response specialists were dispatched to the sites,” Sergei Sobyanin reported on social media.

The mayor of Moscow did not disclose any details or other consequences of the attack.

Meanwhile, OSINT sources reported that explosions and fires have been observed in the city of Pavlovsky Posad in the Moscow Region of the Russian Federation. It is not yet clear whether this is related to a drone attack on the region, but eyewitnesses claim that an explosion occurred and that they saw drones flying in the sky shortly before.

Some Russian media outlets are reporting that a “Magnit” supermarket is on fire in Pavlovsky Posad. However, as of this writing, no official comments have been released on the matter.

Drones Attack the Yaroslavl Region of the Russian Federation—What Is Known

Around 6:00 a.m., OSINT channels also reported explosions and active Russian air defense operations in the Yaroslavl Region of the Russian Federation. The regional capital, in particular, came under attack, where smoke and fires were observed following a series of explosions.

The governor of the Yaroslavl Region, Mikhail Evraev, confirmed the attack on the region. Around 5:30 a.m., he posted about an air raid alert due to a UAV threat, and shortly thereafter reported that authorities had blocked the road leading out of Yaroslavl toward Moscow.

“Refrain from traveling to this area and its surroundings, or choose a route that bypasses this section. Units of the Ministry of Defense and law enforcement agencies continue to work to ensure security,” Yevraev warned.
