Drones Have Attacked Yaroslavl And Are Heading Toward Moscow

A fire broke out at one of Russia's largest oil refineries.

On the morning of Thursday, August 6, the Russian city of Yaroslavl came under attack by drones. A fire broke out at a local oil refinery following the strikes. The drones likely targeted the Yaroslavnefteorgsintez refinery, which is considered one of the largest oil refineries in central Russia. The plant is owned by Slavneft and ranks among the top five largest oil refineries in the Russian Federation in terms of crude oil processing volume.

This was reported by Charter97.org, citing Russian Telegram channels and OSINT public groups.

The region’s governor Mikhail Evraev wrote on his Telegram channel that at 2:37 a.m., a drone threat was declared in the Yaroslavl Region.

Ten minutes later, the region was already under attack, prompting authorities to block traffic on the road leading out of Yaroslavl toward Moscow “for safety reasons.”

Shortly after 4 a.m., footage of the fire in Yaroslavl began appearing in OSINT public channels, and subscribers reported that an oil refinery had been attacked. By 7 a.m., footage had appeared online showing several plumes of smoke at once.

Local authorities have not yet commented on the situation.

It’s also worth noting that the Moscow Region is also under drone attack. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin posted on Telegram overnight and around 6 a.m. that air defense forces had reportedly shot down a total of 6 drones.
