Merz On The War In Ukraine: We Are Facing Decisive Moments
Friedrich Merz

Berlin will continue to help Kyiv repel Russian aggression.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called for increase support for Kyiv, as, in his view, a decisive moment has arrived in Russia’s war against Ukraine. This was reported by the German publication Spin.

The German chancellor made his statement on Ukraine during the Arctic Summit of European leaders, which took place on September 13–14 in Rovaniemi, Finland.

“We are most likely facing decisive moments—perhaps weeks or months. We must defend peace and freedom in Europe, so I will do everything in my power to maintain aid to Ukraine. This is in our national interest,” said Merz.

The chancellor noted that there is a growing sentiment in favor of reducing aid to Ukraine, not only in eastern Germany but throughout the entire country. According to him, if Moscow wins the war, it will lead to unpredictable consequences not only for Germany but “for everyone.”

Merz stated that he is determined to continue providing aid to Kyiv and will not back down “even a centimeter” on this issue.
