Symbal.by founder Pavel Belous is among the political prisoners, who were released on September 16 following the arrival of an American delegation in Minsk.

Pavel Belous was detained on November 15, 2021, after being summoned to the police station. He was then transferred to a pretrial detention center, where he was charged with a criminal offense.

Belous was convicted under four criminal articles: Article 342 (participation in protests), Article 361 (calls for sanctions), Article 361-1 (creation of or participation in an extremist group), and Article 356 (treason). The final sentence was 13 years in prison.

Belous served his sentence at Shklov Colony No. 17.
