During The Talks In Moscow, Kushner Employed A "tactic" That Was Painful For Putin

The discussion was about the Donbas.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin told American negotiators during a meeting in Moscow that the Russian military would capture Donbas within a few months, but Jared Kushner objected.

This was reported by The New York Times.

According to the publication, when U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys met with Putin in the Kremlin in early September, the Russian dictator exuded confidence.

According to him, within a few months, Russian troops would finally capture the entire Ukrainian Donbas region.

Putin also claimed that Russia was ready to launch powerful strikes against Ukraine’s power grid, setting the stage for a harsh winter.

However, Kushner tried to counter the Russian dictator.

“With all due respect, you told us the same thing a year ago. What are the chances that we’ll be back here in a year, and you’ll say the same thing again? Maybe we won’t waste another year?” he said to Putin.

The NYT notes that this exchange reflects the full complexity of the situation that has developed over more than a year and a half of Trump’s attempts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

As a reminder, U.S. President’s envoys Steve Whitcroft and Jared Kushner traveled to Moscow in an attempt to make progress toward ending the war in Ukraine. There, they held talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

After the talks in Moscow, Whitcoff and Kushner visited Kyiv, where they met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
