Trump Wanted To Rename The Strait Of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed renaming the Strait of Hormuz in his honor. The president shared this initiative on the social media platform Truth Social.

“Now that the U.S. controls it, should we rename the Strait of Hormuz the Trump Strait?” wrote the U.S. president. He added that in that case, the strait would become “hotter” than ever— “just like America itself.”

According to Axios, the U.S. Navy controls the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz, which runs along the coast of Oman. Ships pass through the route in accordance with instructions from the U.S. military. Every day, 15–20 vessels—or 10 million barrels of oil—pass through the southern corridor, which accounts for roughly half of the volume of shipments prior to the start of the conflict in the Middle East.
