Bloomberg: The EU Is Preparing A Harsh Blow Against Russian Diplomats And Citizens

Several options are being considered.

The European Union is considering new restrictions on Russians after Berlin accused Moscow of an attack on the Leipzig/Halle Airport.

Possible measures include tightening visa policies and imposing restrictions on Russian diplomats.

According to Bloomberg, EU ambassadors will discuss possible measures against Russia in more detail in the coming weeks.

In particular, EU countries are considering several options:

restricting the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens;

restricting the freedom of movement of Russian diplomats within the EU;

imposing new sanctions against ships in the so-called “shadow fleet” that transport Russian oil.

The new sanctions were prompted by official accusations from Germany against Russia. Berlin stated that Moscow may have been behind the drone attack on Leipzig/Halle Airport.

The agency’s sources note that European politicians view the aggressor country’s actions as a “reckless hybrid war against European countries.”
