Now Trump needs to call Zelensky and Putin.
Representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump—Steve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner—who were on their first official visit to Kyiv, left the Ukrainian capital late in the evening on September 6 aboard a special train. This was reported by “Ukrzaliznytsia.”
“We sent off the special train carrying Steve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner. We thanked them for their visit and conveyed our best wishes for them to return soon and expand the scope of their travels—so that other cities can also enjoy peaceful weekends,” Ukrzaliznytsia stated.
According to a source The Kyiv Independent, after U.S. envoys brief Donald Trump on the talks in Moscow and Kyiv, the U.S. president is expected to speak first with Putin and then with Zelenskyy. According to a U.S. official, these calls are expected on September 7.
As a reminder, on September 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks in Kyiv with Donald Trump’s special envoys, who had previously visited Moscow. At a press conference following the meeting, the participants reported that Jared Kushner and Stephen Whitcroft had brought certain “new ideas” to the Ukrainian capital regarding ways to end the war, but did not specify exactly what those ideas entailed.
