Simonyan Called For A Boycott Of “Z” Writers And Filmmakers

A propagandist spoke about protest voting at a literary competition.
RT Head Margarita Simonyan complained about the “protest vote” by the jury of Russia’s major literary awards regarding Zakhar Prilepin’s book *Tuma*, reports *Agentstvo*.
On the broadcast of “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov,” Simonyan stated that members of the jury for one of Russia’s major literary awards are giving Prilepin’s novel zero scores for political reasons. Simonyan did not specify which award she was referring to.
“Zakhar Prilepin, who nearly died defending his homeland, wrote the stunning book *Tuma* and generally writes stunning books. And the people who sit on the juries for the country’s major awards—I won’t name them—are giving him a zero as a protest vote,” she said.
In response, Solovyov suggested “carefully rounding up all these protest voters and sending them out of the country via Verkhniy Lars.” Simonyan replied that “that would be great.”
The conversation began with a discussion of Yegor Beroev’s series “Marik” about a military doctor. Earlier, it was reported that at the “PILOT-2026” festival in Ivanovo, 12 critics refused to give it a rating, and the series came in last place.
Roman Prilepin’s *Tuma* won the “Book of the Year” award last year, the “Slovo” award this year, and was also shortlisted for the “Big Book” award and longlisted for the “Yasnaya Polyana” award.
Simonyan herself was named a “Book of the Year” winner last week in the “Prose of the Year” category for her novel *In the Beginning Was the Word—In the End Will Be the Number*. The book was also included on the shortlist for the “Big Book” Award, albeit amid controversy.
