Officers of special police unit (former OMON) pushed the people who wanted to celebrate Halloween from Kastrychnitskaya Square in the evening of October 31. At the same time a police car which is used for transferring the most active demonstrators drove to the Square. Nevertheless, nobody was arrested.

According to Radio Svaboda, the police didn’t like the costumes of those who came to the Square to celebrate Halloween. Five people were detained in the “Tsantralny” store before the action at Kastrychnitskaya Square.

Policemen told the participants of the Halloween celebration they were to go to police station.

An administrative protocol was filed on the detained people who were accused of minor hooliganism.

Thus, several people were detained yesterday in the “Tsantralny” store during a flash-mob action dedicated to Halloween. Four of them spent the night at a police station. Detained journalist of “Nasha Niva” Yaraslau Stsieshyk was released after an interrogation with no protocol filed.

According to Stsieshyk, 15-20 young people dressed in carnival costumes intended to congratulate Minsk dwellers on Halloween. The action had no political motivation, Stsieshyk emphasized.

The police detained four participants of the action dressed up as mummies and the journalist of “Nasha Niva” who was filming the action. According to Y.Stsieshyk, the police said the young people in mummies costumes looked like criminals under investigation. The journalist in his turn was told he had no right to film and also looked like a criminal.
