Chinese delegation is travelling by the underground?

Traffic is blocked on a row of central Minsk streets because of the visit of Chinese PM to Minsk. Some of the underground stations are closed, as, for example, “Yakub Kolas’s Sqaure”. OMON officers do not let people even in pedestrian underground crossing.

Charter’97 journalists have become the witnesses how the bypasses are clamouring: many of them have gone to break and can’t return to work on time. “Are the Chinese travelling by underground?”, people ask. The militiamen don’t answer.

It was said earlier that because of the visit of Wen Jiabao, the Premier of the State Council, 5 November, traffic will be restricted on a number of streets. Traffic will be blocked on Peramozhtsau Avenue (former Masherau Avenue) from the Minsk ring road to Nezalezhnasti Avenue, and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. the traffic will be blocked on Nezalezhnasti Avenue from Engels Street to the Minsk ring road.
