Last convicted for meeting of entrepreneurs at large

Youth activist Mikola Syargeyenka, last convicted for organising of the protest demonstration of entrepreneurs was released today after 10-day administrative arrest from the Minsk special prison facility on Akrestin Street.

His mates came to the building of the jail to meet the youth activist. “It’s not so pleasant to be there. I have known the events form my friends only now. I’m going home now, to take a bath, shave, and prepare for the New Year. Thanks to God, I can celebrate it at home, not in jail,” Mikola said to Radio Racyja just after he was released form the prison.

It should be reminded that he was detained yet on 6 December. The Minsk office of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Forces, where Syargeyenka and leader of entrepreneurs Alyaksndr Makayeu were printing leaflets calling to come out to the meeting on 10 December, was searched by police. They detained all people presented and guarded them to the police department.

But the police didn’t arrest the young man on that day, they just hand him a summon. The court of the Leninski District of Minsk sentenced the young man to 10 days of arrest for allegedly “using of coarse language.”
