Information ministry issued warning to “Borisovskie novosti”

Today the independent regional newspaper “Borisovskiye novosti” has been given a warning of the Information Ministry.

According to the official warning, signed on November 4 by the first deputy of Information Ministry Lidziya Ananich, the article “Ball of Satan, or the Third Advent of Huminski” was the cause for sanctions (“BN” of 02.10.2008). The warning has been made basing on Article 32 of the “Law on press and other mass media” which states the right of citizens to receive truthful information in mass media, the BAJ press-service informs.

As the Information Ministry has informed, on October 31 the ministry received a complaint of the Central Election commission of the country concerning that publication. “It follows from this letter that some information in this article is inaccurate,” L. Ananich writes.

In the publication in question on the results of the parliamentary elections in Barysau electoral district No. 62 possible violations at polling stations were discussed.

In the end of October the editor-in-chief and founder of the newspaper “Borisovskiye novosti” Anatol Bukas, a former candidate for deputy of the “chamber of representatives” of the fourth convocation once wrote explanation concerning the contents of that article.
