Distraining of property in “For Freedom” office to be challenged in court

A representative of the organising committee of “For Freedom” movement Alyaksei Kavalets is set to lodge a complaint to the court in connection with distraining of property in the head office of the organisation on November 18.

It has been informed by BelaPAN by one of the activists of the movement Alyaksandr Zhuchkou.

On November 18 in the evening officers of the court came to an apartment in Independence Avenue in Minsk, rented by the organising committee for its headquarters. They started to distrain property: furniture, computers, office equipment. The apartment is rented by A. Kavalets.

As said by A. Zhuchkou, after the property was distrained by court officers, a formal note was drawn up and given to the renter. According to the document, A. Kavalets agreed to take the property for storage, and that he does not have a right to take it out somewhere or sell. It is said in the document that it is possible to go to law against actions of court officers within 10 days.

“The person because of whom the property has been distrained is Alyaksandr Pyzhou. He is accused for “large-scale swindling”, however he is a prison now. His property is to be confiscated; but there is no his possessions in the apartment. Everything belongs either to A. Kavalets or to the mother of the accused, who had been leasing the apartment since 2001,” A. Zhuchkou said.
