Democratic activists have given four toilet rolls to the executive director of a state-run road maintenance firm “Gorremavodor” of Minsk city executive committee. The action took place in the office of the organization which applicants for holding the European March.

“Gorremavtodor” of Minsk City Executive Committee demands to exact 2 million 135 thousand 974 Belarusian rubles (about USD 1,000) from opposition leaders.

That organization stated that while holding the European March on October 14, 2007 organizers changed the place of gathering, the rout of the march and the place of holding the rally advised by Minsk city executive committee, and “October Square and pavement of Independence Avenue from October Square to Surhanou Street were heavily contaminated, which caused additional expenses for cleaning and garbage disposal”.

A separate item of expense indicated by the organization was toilet paper. According to estimates of Gorremavtodor, over the time of holding the European March, 4 toilet rolls were spent (at 1 roll per 1,000 participants of the rally). It was impossible to find out how this paper could be used. However, the cost of the toiled paper was added to the total sum of the suit.

Thus activists of “Young Democrats” decided to partically compensate expenses of Gorremavtodor.

When the toiled rolls were presented, it was found out that the executive director of the enterprise Ivan Gurinovich was not in the office. However, Gurinovich’s secretary agreed to take the parcel for his boss.

As the web page ucpb.org was informed by Alyaksandr Stsepanenka, “Young Democrats” bought a toilet paper of higher quality as compensation.

“The cost of one roll is 800 Brb instead of 325 Brb indicated in the suit by mr. Gurinovich. I think it should compensate his moral damages,” Stsepanenka underlined.
