Prosecutor’s office interested whether Lukashenka killed Kazulina

Famous journalist Iryna Khalip was called to prosecutor’s office of Minsk to give explanations concerning publication of her article “Murder in Live Broadcast” on the site www.charter97.org, written on the day of Iryna Kazulina’s death.

As Iryna Khalip said to the Charter’97 press center, a procuracy inspection on the fact of publication was being carried on. According to the journalist, prosecutor Barys Saalvyanchyk was interested during the talk if Khalip was going to make a statement on the “committed crime.” “The prosecutor asked me several times if I wanted to make a statement on the committed crime, whether I wanted to write a statement Lukashenka had killed Kazulina. As far as I know, publications in press are reason for initiation of criminal case. The prosecutor’s office probably wants to investigate if Lukashenka killed Iryna Kazulina,” Iryna Khalip supposes.

According to the journalist, the prosecutor tried to carry out a linguistic analysis of the article. In particular, he was interested who was a “beast” in the phrase “if they (Alyaksandr and Iryna Kazulins –note of Charter’97) were together, they wouldn’t surrender to this beast.” Iryna Khalip explained she meant death there.

“I have made certain once again, the figure of Alyaksandr Kazulin and the very fact of his existence even in prison, gives no peace to the regime. They continue to interfere in family life of the Kazulins even after the death of his wife. From my point of view, it is brazenly, because one it’s better for everyone to leave the mourning family in peace. We can see that publications concerning Kazulin and his family raise an unhealthy interest of the authorities. I didn’t regret a moment I had written that article. I know it is sharp and trenchant, I know many people may dislike it. I think someone may wish to revenge upon me personally, but I’m absolutely quiet, because no one can blame me I had written a word of lies,” Iryna Khalip said in the interview to Charter’97 press center.

It should be reminded Iryna Kazulina died on 23 February from oncological disease. She didn’t manage to wait for release from prison of her husband- political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin.
