Criminal case against Kasya Salauyova taken to court

On March 4 the case against the 19-year-old activist of the youth democratic movement Kasya Salauyova was taken to the city court of Polatsk (Vitsebsk region), Kasya’s friend Tatsyana Shaputska informs.
Salauyova is charged with violaton of Artciel 193-1 of the Criminal Code (activities on behalf of an unregistered organization). She faces a fine, a three-month arrest or imprisonment for up to 2 years.
As we have informed, on December 5, 2007 Salauyova was found a suspect in two episodes: activities of behalf of an unregistered organization (Art. 193-1) and insult of state symbols (Article 370). The first criminal case is connected with the activities of the Young Front organization, and the second with events on October 30, when a state flag was removed from the building of the prosecutor’s office in Polatsk, torn and attached to the door of the prosecutor’s office.
The second criminal action against Salauyova for insult of state symbols has been suspended.
