The 11th congress of the United Civil Party (UCP) is to take place in the office of the Belarusian Popular Front Party in Minsk on 20 April. This decision was taken 17 April on the session of the UCP political council, which discussed the situation concerning mass rejects to allow office for a congress.
“The soloist here is the Minsk city executive committee, directed by the Presidential Administration,” UCP leader Anatol Lyabedzka noted.
As the politician said, an official part of the congress would take place in half- Spartan conditions in the BPF office, and an informal part – probably on October Square.
“The authorities did their best to break the congress. However, we will hold the event in the BPF office. We have 220 delegates. So, only women and elderly men will be able to have a seat, because the office is too small. After the congress we are going to express the protest in the connection with refusal of authorities to give us office for the congress. This question is in the process of discussion now. We may take to October Square or pass an appeal to the Presidential Administration,” Lyabedzka said in the interview to the Charter’97 press center.
