Belarus to cut its representation in UN?

“We’d not like to speak about it in public,” Andrei Papou, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said answering Radio Svaboda question if cutting of diplomatist staff in the U.S. will affect the Representation of Belarus to the United Nations.

“We can confirm that the quantity is discussed now... But this information is confidential,” Papou added.

Commenting on the words of the U.S. Department of State representative on inadequate reaction of the Belarusian side, MFA spokesman said: “A number of utterances have little connection with diplomacy, but let the author have it on his conscience.”

“We’d like to emphasise that actions of the Belarusian side are a response and agree with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. But the U.S. violated a number of diplomatic documents by imposing sanctions.”

“Suggestions of Belarus, as well as the demand on rescinding sanctions remain in force,” emphasised Andrei Papou, spokesman of the Belarusian MFA.
