Lukashenka invites danger of imposing sanctions on Belarus

2

“Belarusian authorities provoke sanctions on Belarus,” the message of leaders of opposition democratic parties says.

Political parties adopted it on the session on 21 May in view of “deterioration in relations of Belarus with the US and the European Union,” the site www.udfb.org reports.

The politicians noted that the relations of Belarus with the US and the European Union undergo a crisis now. “Careless actions by Lukashenka on expulsion the US embassy from Belarus invite danger of imposing economic and political sanctions.”

The Belarusian authorities, the message says, repeatedly initiated international scandals and exacerbation of relations with certain countries and international organisations. The leaders of political parties expressed regret that “the foreign policy of the Belarusian regime is oriented not to defence of national interests of Belarus and millions of its people but to satisfaction of political ambitions of a certain person.”

At the same time most citizens of Belarus, the message states, are interested in development of stable and friendly relations between our country and all civilised states.

The leaders of parties condemned “the policy of confrontation, carried on by the Belarusian regime in the relations with the US and the European Union.” They hold Lukashenka and his minions responsible for problems with receiving US visas by Belarusian citizens, closing down of humanitarian cooperation programmes, and threat of imposing of economic sanction on Belarus.

The politicians declared they were ready to “contribute to mending relations of Belarus with the US and the European Union and creating conditions for mutually beneficial economic, humanitarian and political cooperation.”

“It is possible only if the Belarusian authorities fulfil a number of conditions, the first of which is immediate release of all political prisoners,” the opposition leaders emphasised.
